報(bào)告摘要:
As the ubiquity of artificial intelligence increases, there is a need to provide a sober and realistic assessment of its capabilities and future potential. In this presentation, the key terms will be examined, some applications considered, and a perspective on the future of artificial intelligence and modelling presented. The primary focus will be on applications to chemical and process engineering.
報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介:
Yuri A. W. Shardt received both his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Computer Process Control and his doctorate in Process Engineering from the University of Alberta (Canada) in 2008 and 2012, respectively. After his doctorate, he worked in industry for one year focusing on the development and application of control methods to novel chemical processes. He then was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Duisburg- Essen (Germany) and an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo (Canada). He is currently professor and chair of the Department of Automation Engineering (Fachgebiet Automatisierungstechnik) at the Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany). He has written over 80 journal papers and a book called Statistics for Chemical and Process Engineers: A Modern Approach, now in its second edition. This book has also been translated into German and become a bestseller with over 85,000 downloads. As well, there are companion books in both English and German explaining how to solve statistics using Excel and MATLAB. He received the Book Prize from TU Ilmenau for these publications. He is also an associate editor for the journal ISA Transactions. His research interests include soft sensors, system identification, fault detection and diagnosis, and holistic control.
